Claim to the Throne
Elizabeth, the last of the Tudors, died childless and James was the closest relative. James descended from Margaret Tudor, who was his great grandmother and sister of King Henry VIII.

27th March 1625 Theobalds House, Hertfordshire. Cause of death – dysentery.
Buried – Westminster Abbey.
